The Congress high command took serious exception to party MLC Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy's and senior leader V Hanumatha Rao's criticism of the PCC new election committees openly.
Telangana Congress party affairs in-charge R C Kuntia said that the alleged remarks made by Rajagopal Reddy had come to his notice, and that the disciplinary committee would initiate action against him if he spoke in a manner that would harm the party's interests.
TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy too warned Rajgopal Reddy indirectly saying that AICC chief Rahul Gandhi had already warned the leaders not to violate discipline. Action would be there if anyone crossed their limits, Uttam Kumar Reddy warned.
Rajgopal Reddy had on September 20 launched a scathing attack on Kuntia alleging that the latter had became a "Sani" (Saturn) to the party, at a meeting of his followers held at Pedda Amberpet. He said that he was not afraid of even 100 Kuntias, and also alleged that "brokers" had got positions in the newly appointed committees.
"The Congress lost power in the last elections due to bad decisions. The party gave positions to leaders who had joined party a few days ago and to those who went to jail," he had fumed.
Reddy didn't get any position in the election committees. His brother Komatireddy Venkat Reddy however was named Manifesto Committee co-chairperson.
Meanwhile, the PCC Disciplinary Committee issued a showcause notice to Rajagopal Reddy seeking an explanation on his outburst within two days. The committee also said that it had received similar complaints against Rajagopal Reddy earlier, too. Rajagopal Reddy had made serious allegations against the AICC Telangana in-charge, the committees' appointment process, and the committee members themselves, and had even used unparliamentary language in the process, the committee pointed out, and said that it was viewing the issue seriously, especially since Reddy didn't care about even AICC chief Rahul Gandhi's directions that leaders not speak before the media about party derogatorily. However, VHR has not been issued any notice yet.
