The Kadapa police had registered a case of cheating and forgery against Ravindranath Reddy, following a complaint of forgery during the cooperative elections.
Former Kadapa mayor Ravindranath Reddy was granted bail on Friday, by a Kadapa local court, in a forgery case.
He surrendered before the court on February 26, and was sent to police custody for one day on Thursday. After the expiry of custody, he was produced before the court, and was later shifted to the district jail.
It may be recalled that the Kadapa police had registered a case of cheating and forgery against Ravindranath Reddy, following a complaint that he had indulged in forgery during the cooperative elections.
He has been accused of forging the Kadapa District Cooperative Officer's stamp and signature during the elections of Pedda Cheppali Society of Kamalapuram constituency.
Ravindranath Reddy, brother-in-law of former Chief Minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, had approached the court, asking it to dismiss the cases registered against him.
However, the court refused to intervene in the case, and this forced him to surrender.
He is likely to be released from the jail on Saturday. (INN)
