YSR Congress party honorary president YS Vijayamma on Sunday denied reports of her party's merger with the Congress party.
Talking to media persons in the Assembly premises, Vijayamma described reports of a merger as being media-created. She said that there was no truth in those reports and accused a section of media of fabricating "facts" and distorting statements to defame the YSR Congress party. She also dismissed reports of some secret understanding with the Congress party to ensure bail for her son and Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, revealing that Jagan - who has been in jail for over 90 days now - has recently approached the Supreme Court for the bail.
Regarding the assembly session, Vijayamma said that both the ruling Congress and the main opposition party TDP were not serious about the session and the absence of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu from the business advisory committee meeting was proof of the same. Complaining that the session should have been held for at least 15 working days, she announced that the YSRCP would seek debates on the issues of fee reimbursement, power crisis, the improper supply of power, issues relating to the supply of seeds and fertilizers to farmers, and the lack of drinking water in drought affected areas.
Vijayamma slammed the state government for its failure in tiding the state over the energy crisis. She said that about 6.5 lakh industries in the state were on ventilation due to the improper supply of power. She alleged that lakhs of daily-wage labourers have lost their livelihood due to the government's inefficiency in dealing with the power crisis, challenging the government to fix a deadline for the completion of Jalayagnum projects.
Claiming that the former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, during his regime, has subsidised the hike in LPG prices, she demanded that Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy emulate YSR in reducing the burden from of the common man. (INN)
