"YSR Responsible For Cabinet Calls"

Senior Congress leader and former minister J C Diwakar Reddy on Tuesday stated that the late former chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy alone would be held responsible for decisions taken by his Cabinet during his tenure.

J C Diwakar Reddy was referring to the state High Court ordering the CBI to probe illegal land allotments which took place during YSR's tenure.

Diwakar Reddy found fault with the statement of YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy (also YSR's son) that the Chief Minister could not be held responsible for decisions taken by the cabinet collectively.

"The Chief Minister is responsible for all decisions taken by the Cabinet since he is the Head of the Government," JC said, pointing out that he had opposed the implementation of the "Rs. 2 per kg of rice" scheme and the scheme on free power supply to farmers.

"However, former chief minister Dr. YSR had brushed my objections aside and implemented these scheme," he stated.

JC refused to comment on the illegal allotments issue, saying the court was looking at the issue.

Responding to the controversy triggered off by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram seeking another resolution on deletion of Clause 14 F from the Presidential Order of 1975, JC stated that the elected representatives must consult Constitutional and legal experts and seek their advice on the issue.
