YSR Congress Party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today called for a bandh in Andhra Pradesh on July 24 over the issue of Special Category Status (SCS) being denied to residual Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to mediapersons in Kakinada, the YSRCP president expressed his displeasure over the manner in which the no-confidence motion debate took place in the Lok Sabha. He said that the BJP-TDP ties were now evident as the union home minister had himself confirmed them in his speech during the motion.
He said that he time had now come to exert much greater pressure on the Centre to grant SCS to AP, and sought the support of all the political parties and groups in Andhra Pradesh for the bandh on Tuesday.
