Minor Irrigation Minister T G Venkatesh, on Sunday, said that the sympathy wave of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy would not work out for YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy in the by-elections to be held for 18 Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh.
Talking to media persons after participating as chief guest during the foundation-stone-laying ceremony of Vanguluru Seetamma Nityannadana choultry at Mutyalareddypalem in Chittoor district, Venkatesh said that the sympathy wave would not help Jagan beyond a point.
He said that there was a change in the mindset of people after the CBI filing a charge-sheet against him in connection with the disproportionate assets case.
Stating that the state might break into pieces if the YSR Congress wins the by-elections, he appealed to voters to exercise their vote in favour of the Congress in order to keep AP united.
He said that the Congress must plan an effective strategy to win the by-elections and take the government's welfare schemes and programs to the doorsteps of people. (INN)
