A 33-year-old journalist from the city died of the deadly coronavirus while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital today.
Manoj, who was working as a crime reporter in a prominent TV news channel, was admitted to Gandhi Hospital on June 4 after testing positive for the virus.
He was brought to the hospital from Fever Hospital.
According to the Superintendent of Gandhi Hospital Dr Raja Rao, Manoj had been kept in the ICU, and had a heart attack on Sunday morning, Attempts were made immediately to resuscitate him, but he couldn't be revived.
Dr Rao said that the victim was declared dead at 9:37 am.
He said that a team of doctors including physicians, anesthetists and pulmonologists had made their best efforts to save his life, but could not.
The Superintendent also said that Manoj was suffering from a condition called Myasthenia Gravis, patients of which have muscle weakness including weakness of the respiratory muscles. He added that the victim had also had a surgery earlier.
