Protesting against the Centre's proposal to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh, leader of the opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, resigned from his post here on Friday.
Yanamala, who took over as the leader of the opposition from Dadi Veerabhadra Rao, faxed his resignation letter to Council chairman Dr. A Chakrapani. He also resigned from his role as a Member of the Legislative Council.
The senior TDP leader said that he was deeply hurt by the developments that took place since the announcement of the state's bifurcation. He blamed Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the present situation.
He also held former chief minister Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy responsible for "igniting the fire".
"Since my heart is burning due to the developments in Seemaandhra, I am not inclined to continue as member of the Legislative Council," Yanamala said. (INN)
