Politician Y S Sharmila today revealed that she would officially announce the name of her new political party on July 8.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting for the formation of the party at her Lotus Pond residence, she urged her supporters to enquire about the problems and aspirations of the people of Telangana.
Sharmila said that the principles of the party had been penned in accordance with the dreams and aspirations of the people of Telangana and that she wanted them to also play a role in writing the party agenda so that it would be one that would be accepted by all, adding that people could send in their views and advice on the matter through Whatsapp using the number 8374167039.
At the meeting, the leader also made clear the fact that the workers of her party would form an integral part of her new party and urged them to spend their time among the people of the state, working hard to solve all their problems.
Though Sharmila is yet to officially announce the name of her party, many insiders and aides have said that the new party will be called the YSR Telangana party.
In fact, the process of receiving claims and objections over the name, conducted by the Election Commission of India, has already been completed. Party convenor Rajagopal, a close associate of Sharmila, made these statements in a press note in which he also said that all the
registration and other related works had been completed.
In the context of her split with her brother, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, the name of her party assumes great significance - the name is an obvious homage to her late father, former AP CM Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, and a bold reclamation of his legacy (her brother's party, the ruling party in AP, is called the YSR Congress Party).
