Sharmila Officially Launches Her Party YSRTP

Y S Sharmila, daughter of former Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and sister of incumbent AP CM Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, today launched her political party, the YSR Telangana Party, on the day of her late father's 72nd birth anniversary.

Speaking at the launch ceremony held in Hyderabad's Raidurgam area, the leader said, "My party, the YSRTP, will work for the welfare and self-development of the people of Telangana. We will commit ourselves to the causes of social justice and equality as well. We will work to bring back Rajanna Rajyam (the era of YSR's rule) in the state."

She then saluted the green and blue party flag, released today as well, which depicts YSR's face etched on a silhouette of Telangana, amidst much applause.

During the program, Sharmila also launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for "failing to keep his promises" to the people of the state.

Accusing him of going back on his word of providing free 2BHK units to the poor under a housing scheme, of giving three acres of land to each Dalit household, and of implementing pensions for and issuing ration cards to the economically disadvantaged households in the state, she vowed to ensure the welfare of the people, and promised, "The YSRTP will follow in the footsteps of YSR, and will strive to bring holistic development to the state. We will always remain committed towards the people's welfare as well."

The leader also lambasted KCR and his government for "cheating" the people "favouring" only his own family, and neglecting the rest of the population.

"The CM has protected the interests of his own family but has neglected those who fought for statehood. Unlike YSR who implemented several schemes for the benefit of different sections of society, KCR has not even been able to develop the state although he has borrowed about Rs 4 lakh crores for the purpose of doing so," she thundered.

"We will fight for the people and question the government for its negligent ways. I will begin a padayatra within the next 100 days. It is unfortunate that KCR has used his position not to strengthen the state but only to loot it. It is condemnable that the TRS regime did not even include the treatment of Covid-19 in the Aarogyasri health scheme which would have helped scores of poor people in the state. The pandemic has acted to highlight the KCR government's misrule, especially as so many in Telangana have lost their lives in the pandemic," Sharmila added.

Her mother Vijayamma also attended the program, and appealed, on her daughter's behalf, to the people to support the YSRTP.
