The CBI's investigations into Jagan's alleged illegal assets are likely to unmask several politicians in the state.
The investigations into the alleged illegal assets of Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and the shady land allotments to Emaar properties are likely to unmask several politicians in the state, especially those who were members of the Cabinet during YSR's regime.
The continuous demand by YSR Congress Party leaders that the members of YSR cabinet should also be probed hints that they were hand in glove with all the transactions that happened in both the Jagan and Emaar cases.
The same ministers who earlier proclaimed their proximity to YSR till a few months ago have now started disowning the former CM, perhaps fearing that they might come under the CBI scanner.
However, some ministers, on the condition of anonymity, told INN that they did exactly what they were told to by their 'boss'.
Unfortunately, legally, this argument does not hold water. After all, they did obey their boss fully aware of the rules and regulations.
Topping the list of the then ministers are Balineni Srinivasa Reddy and Patlolla Sabitha Reddy, who worked as mines ministers one after the other. They now they had no alternative except facing the trial if the CBI turns its focus on them.
Balineni is now a full-time YSR Congress leader, and Sabitha is currently the Home Minister.
The Gali brothers of Karnataka reportedly received favours from Balineni in the Obulapuram mining scam during YSR's rule. Sources say that the CBI will surely unravel his connections with the Gali brothers.
Dharmana Prasasda Rao, now Roads & Buildings Minister, held the key portfolio of Revenue when YSR was at his peak of power, and sources say this portfolio had enabled him to favour Jagan's business partners.
Then, both Geetha Reddy and Kanna Laxminarayana discharged their duties as Industries ministers one after the other, and both of them are said to have shown undue favours allotting land under special economic zones and other facilities to Jagan and his partners.
If there is recorded proof, neither minister can escape.
The new APCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana, who was the choice of the Congress High Command for his current post, and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy held key portfolios – Industries and Panchayati Raj, respectively. Botsa is known to have mishandled the Volkswagen project.
The then Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmiah had also played his cards well at YSR's behest. Jalayagnam was one of the YSR's flagship programs, and plenty of misappropriation allegedly took place while it was implemented.
Ponnala, too, may be quizzed by the CBI.
In all, Jagan's case might spell doom for more than one politicians whi belonged to YSR's Cabinet. (INN)
