Vijay Sai Reddy Gets Bail
Jagati Publications vice-chairman V Vijay Sai Reddy has been granted conditional bail in the disproportionate assets case of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Hyderabad | 30th April 2012
The CBI Second Additional Special Court at Nampally, on Monday, granted conditional bail to Jagati Publications vice-chairman V Vijay Sai Reddy, in the disproportionate assets case of Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
While granting bail to Vijay Sai, Justice Naga Maruthi Sharma directed him to produce 2 sureties of Rs. 25,000 each, before the court, and asked him not to leave the city without informing the probing agency.
Following the directions of the High Court, the special court heard Vijay Sai's bail petition afresh. The CBI counsel vehemently opposed Vijay Sai Reddy's bail plea, stating that it would affect the progress of the case, and that he would tamper with the evidence if released on bail.
However, the special court granted bail to Vijay Sai, dismissing the CBI counsel's arguments.
Meanwhile, the CBI has decided to file a petition in the High Court once again, seeking cancellation of the bail.
It may be mentioned here that the High Court had cancelled the conditional bail granted by the special CBI court, on 13 April, to Vijay Sai Reddy, and observed that the special court had not taken proper decision on granting bail.
While finding fault with the CBI for not arresting 13 other accused in the case, the court directed the special CBI court to review the case and hear the arguments afresh to take a final decision on the bail. The High Court then directed Vijay Sai Reddy to surrender, and asked him to settle his bail petition in the special court. (INN)
