The High Court Bar Association of Telangana vowed that it would not withdraw its strike till its demands were met.
The Bar Association members on Monday met Telangana Governor E S L Narsimhan at Raj Bhavan and apprised him of the situation.
Speaking to the media later, Bar Association president Gandra Mohan Rao said that they had submitted a memorandum to the Governor explaining the injustice meted out to the Telangana judicial officers, lawyers and employees, and urged the Governor to solve their problems. The Governor had asked them to withdraw their strike, but Rao said that he had informed the Governor that the strike would not be withdrawn until the advocates' demands were conceded and clear assurances were given.
Meanwhile, tension prevailed at the VIII Metropolitan Megistrate's court at Upperpally, Rajender Nagar, when lawyers staged a protest on the court premises against the suspension of Telangana judges. They obstructed the entry of the judges into the court and raised slogans. The agitators also jostled with the police when the latter tried to disperse them.
