The body of a 45-year-old woman, who has been missing since Friday morning, was retrieved from an agricultural well at Vissampalli village, Maripedu mandal in Warangal district, on Saturday. Stab wounds to the body have confirmed suspicions that she was murdered.
According to Inspector G Ravindar, Samakka, widow of Mallaiah, was a resident of Vissampally village. Samakka is believed to have entered into a relationship with one Ashok after her husband died 9 years ago.
On Friday morning, Samakka had gone for work to a field, but did not return home.
Her relatives lodged a complaint with the police later in the evening, and launched a search for her. Samakka's body was discovered in an agricultural well on Saturday morning, with stab injuries on her throat.
The victim's relatives say that they suspect Ashok for the murder.
Later, police shifted the body to a government hospital for autopsy, after registering a case under section 302 IPC against unidentified persons. Further investigations are on.
