The CPI staged a protest against the TRS government passing the Land Acquisition Amendment Bill, 2016, in the Assembly and set several government effigies ablaze at the Himayatnagar crossroads.
Speaking to the media during the protest, State CPI Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy accused the TRS government of deceiving people affected by the projects. He found fault with the State government for replacing the 2013 land acquisition act which was brought by the Centre due to prolonged protests by the Left.
He demanded that the government withdraw the new land acquisition bill at once, else the government would face intense protests across the State, he warned.
Former MLAs P Nageshwar Rao, K Sambasiva Rao and other leaders also participated.
