Withdraw All Trivial Cases Against Politicians: FGG
The Forum for Good Governance said most of the cases against politicians in Telangana were trivial and pertained to the Telangana agitation and code violations.
The Forum for Good Governance has urged the State government to withdraw all trivial cases against politicians.
In a letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today, M Padmanabha Reddy, president of the Forum, said that most of the cases against politicians in Telangana were trivial and pertained to the Telangana agitation and code violations.
"The police personnel, in a bid to be in the good books of the ruling party, are registering cases against opposition leaders and are not conducting investigations for years together. These pending (trivial) cases against the leaders are creating a bad image of the politicians in the public eye," he said.
"The Forum for Good Governance is not generalising and recommending that all cases against all politicians to be withdrawn. Our contention is that a majority of the cases booked against politicians are under pressure from the ruling party. We therefore request the Chief Minister to kindly direct the DGP to examine cases and withdraw all those which are of a routine nature immediately," Reddy said.
