The Telangana Congress MPs who were
suspended for 4 days from the Lok Sabha, on Tuesday, announced that they would continue their protests until the Centre announces a decision on Telangana statehood.
Talking to media persons, Nagarkurnool MP Manda Jagannatham said that the MPs had stalled the proceedings of the Lok Sabha in view of the long-pending aspirations and demands of people in the Telangana region. He said that the MPs were ready to face any consequences for achieving the separate state.
Stating that the suspension from the Lok Sabha for 4 days would not dilute their statehood demand, Nalgonda Gutta Sukhender Reddy described it as a "black day" in the history of the ruling Congress party.
Peddapalli MP G Vivek said that although the Congress High Command has been mounting pressure on the MPs, they would continue their protests, and that there was no question of bowing down to pressure.
Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakhar said that the MPs were satisfied that they were expressing the people's demand in the House.
"Until the Centre announces the process for the formation of a Telangana state, the MPs will not withdraw their agitation," he said.
The MPs stated that they would stage a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi's statue in the Parliament on Wednesday.
Describing their suspension as a "minor issue", they said their main goal was to achieve a Telangana state.
With the BJP not opposing the suspension of the MPs, its "true face" has been exposed in the Parliament, the Congress MPs alleged. (INN)
