At least 26 areas in Hyderabad will recieve sporadic to no water owing to the water supply to these localities being shut down for repairs.
Water supply will be affected in several areas of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad on Friday and Saturday.
According to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, to attend to the major leakages on the pumping-main of Phase-II of Krishna DWSP, and also to replace the damaged valves in pumping stations at Nasarlapally and Kodandapur, it has been proposed that a 24-hour shut down would be imposed on the water supply from 3 PM on Friday to 3 PM on Saturday. Also there will be a power shut-down by AP TRANSCO for four hours on Saturday.
Due to these shut-downs, there will be a shortage of 90 million gallon's per day (MGD) on KDWSP phase-II and a shortage of 15 MGD on KDWSP phase-I. There will be short supplies on Friday, and delayed or no supply on Saturday in some areas. The affected localities under Krishna Phase - II include Ring Main I &II consisting of Saheb nagar, Balapur, Mailardevpally, Hyderguda, Prashashan Nagar, Lingampally, Maredpally, Tarnaka, Lalapet, Moulali, Sainikpuri and Elugutta reservoir areas.
There will be short supplies on Saturday due to power shut down in Krishna Phase-I areas including Narayanaguda, Adikmet, Shivam, Chilkalguda, Boggulakunta and Mahboob mansion Vinaynagar Asmangadh, Chanchalguda, Yakuthpura, Snthoshnagar,Vaishalinagar, Malakpet, Miralam and Aliabad reservoir areas.
