A huge container truck lost control at the Toopran toll gate in Medak district on NH-44, ramming into vehicles and killing the niece of the Warangal Commissioner of Police Viswanath Ravindra.
While the police officer is safe, his relatives sustained injuries in the accident, with his niece, as mentioned, losing her life.
Ravindra's escape was miraculous. His car and that of his relatives were waiting at the toll gate when the speeding container hit the toll plaza and rammed into one of the vehicles. Ravindra?s niece Anitha (49) died on the spot, and five others including employees of the toll plaza Amit Kumar, Govind Gupta and Jaya Kumar suffered serious injuries, but Ravindra himself did not suffer any injuries.
Police rushed to the spot and shifted the Commissioner, his kin and others who were injured, to a local hospital. The injured kin of the Ravindra were then rushed to Hyderabad after being provided first-aid at the local hospital.
A couple of toll booths were totally damaged in the incident.
