Telangana Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav has accepted that the Warangal parliamentary by-election would be a referendum on the 18-month-old TRS rule in the State.
Addressing the media at Warangal where he had gone to campaign for the TRS candidate P Dayakar, Yadav asked the BJP leaders whether the bypoll was a referendum for them, too.
The BJP-TDP combine had roped in a foreign candidate for the election, while the Congress was fielding a defeated leader Sarve Satyanarayana, he sneered.
"Telangana is giving top priority to welfare and heading towards faster development. Our government is ready to keep its promise of supplying nine-hour power supply for farmers from March 2016. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is taking up every possible scheme for the welfare of poor, weaker sections and minorities," he said.
Water Grid, the flagship program of the TRS government, would be completed within six months and would supply drinking water to the people in villages and towns, he maintained. Then, the lakes' restoration under the Mission Kakatiya Project would distribute irrigation waters to the villages.
Keeping these and all the other ongoing schemes and programmes in view, the people of the Warangal parliamentary constituency would certainly vote in favour of the TRS candidate Dayakar, he said.
