The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, stayed orders of the Andhra Pradesh High Court which ruled that lands allotted to IT companies and real estate firms in the Manikonda area of the city are to be adjudicated by the Wakf Tribunal.
While disposing a petition in connection with the Lanco Hills project, the apex court observed that 1,654.34 acres of land allotted to IT companies and real estate firms in Manikonda, in Hyderabad, belonged to the Wakf Board.
The state government, in its petition before the apex court, stated that the government was ready to pay the Wakf Board compensation for the construction work.
After hearing the arguments, the court stated that it would fix the compensation, and adjourned the petition for the next hearing, to the second week of August.
Earlier, a division bench of the AP High Court ruled that lands allotted to IT companies and real estate firms in the Manikonda area are to be adjudicated by the Wakf Tribunal. The bench dismissed the writ petitions filed by the state government, the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, and some of the allottees of the prime land in the IT hub of the city.
