VRA Who Stopped Sand Mining Run Over By Tractor
A Village Revenue Assistant on duty in Kamareddy district of Telangana died on the spot after he was run over by a tractor belonging to the sand mafia.
A Village Revenue Assistant (VRA) who was on duty in Kambapoor village of Kamareddy district died on the spot after he was run over by a tractor late Wednesday night.
Sources said Boyini Sailu, a resident of Karegaon and working as VRA at Kambapoor village under Pitlam mandal, received a call from villagers last night that illegal sand mining was going on in the Kakivagu stream. Sailu informed his higher officials and rushed to the spot.
When Sailu asked those mining sand from the stream to leave immediately, heated arguments broke out, and one of the tractors hit Sailu when he was leaving the area, causing his instant death.
Villagers discovered the body on Thursday morning and alerted the police, who shifted the body to the Banswada area hospital. The tractor owner has been arrested.
Villagers alleged that illegal sand mining had been going on for quite some time in Kakivagu, and demanded action against the practice.
