Former MP B Vinod Kumar has been appointed Vice-Chairman of the Telangana State Planning Commission.
Chairman of the Planning Commission and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday signed the file pertaining to Vinod Kumar's appointment.
The Planning Commission does play a part in the State's development, and Kumar is likely to have some influence on policy in the role. He has already been entrusted by the Chief Minister with the responsibility of reviewing proposals from all the departments in the backdrop of the government introducing a full-fledged budget for 2019-20.
As the Planning Commission Vice-Chairman, Kumar will enjoy status of a cabinet minister, and will be a permanent invitee to the State cabinet meetings. His term of office will be three years.
The Chief Minister said Kumar was appointed to the position due to his vast experience in politics and administration as well as his knowledge of the socio-economic and geographic aspects of Telangana.
