TRS MP Vinod Kumar today condemned the criticism of AICC president Rahul Gandhi of the irrigation projects in the state and of TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao.
Kumar slammed Gandhi's remarks that the TRS regime had changed the name of the Kaleshwaram project from Dr B R Ambedkar Project. Even now the Pranahitha-Chevella project was in the name of Ambedkar, and there was no truth in the name change allegation, the MP said. (The first part of the Pranahita-Chevella lift irrigation scheme is called the Pranahitha barrage lift irrigation project, and the second is referred to as the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme.)
Kumar also said that no changes had been made to the 2013 Land Acquisition Act, and that only some amendments were made to help more people.
He also slammed the AICC president for his "false" comments that more farmer suicides had taken place during KCR's rule. He attributed the suicides to the lopsided policies of the past government in the combined state, and said that the number of suicides by farmers had come down drastically under the KCR government.
Launching an offensive himself, Kumar said that Gandhi had no knowledge of the irrigation projects or of the corruption of the Congress rulers who had swindled funds in the name of Jala Yagnam. The Congress was synonymous with the Bofors scam and the BJP for the Rafale scam, and both the two national parties were equally corrupt, he alleged.
