Politics in Telangana are rapidly changing in the run-up to the Assembly elections. Though the finalisation of candidates, nomination process and withdrawal of nominations are over, the moving of political leaders from one party to another is not stopping. Many leaders are increasingly queuing up to join the Congress. Senior BJP leader Vijayashanti appears to be one of them.
According to informed sources, Vijayashanti is likely to join the Congress in the presence of Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, who will be participating in election campaigning in the State on Friday.
Kharge will attend a public meeting in the Qutbullapur Assembly constituency. Vijayashanti is likely to join the Congress during the meeting. She is also likely to contest for the Lok Sabha from Medak in the 2024 elections as the Congress nominee.
Meanwhile, Vijayashanti has resigned from the BJP. She sent her resignation letter to Telangana BJP president Kishan Reddy. She is said to have been unhappy with the developments in the party for some time now. On several occasions, she was critical of the decisions of the BJP high command. She also expressed affection for Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on several occasions.
