Vijayasanthi has been arrested by the Nampally court on Saturday, and has been sentenced to judicial remand for 14 days. She was taken to the Chanchalguda prison for women, amid high drama.
The Medak MP, on whom a
case was slapped for making an inflammatory speech to party workers, whom she allegedly exhorted to 'hack those who come in the way of Telangana'. It was the EC that ordered the Hyderabad police to register a case against her.
The actress-turned-politician claims she did nothing wrong since the Telangana by-elections weren't being held in Hyderabad, and said that the speech she was making consisted of slogans that the TRS has always used to motivate its workers.
Vijayasanthi has also alleged to the High Court, where she had a hearing, that the police had misbehaved with her while taking her into custody.
According to police, a case has been registered under IPC sections 153-A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth and residence) and 505 (2) (Statements creating or promoting enmity, ill-will or hatred between classes).
