Veteran Congress leader and former MP V Hanumantha Rao suddenly fell ill at his residence today.
After the septuagenarian complained of acute stomach pains, his family immediately rushed him to the Hyderguda branch of the Apollo Hospitals.
The doctors treating Rao, who has reportedly been contending with kidney-related problems for some time, said that his condition was stable, and that he would be discharged soon.
After he was admitted to the hospital, various Congress leaders and workers went to meet the leader and conveyed their wishes for a speedy recovery to him.
VHR had fallen ill after contracting Covid-19 during the same period last year. However, he had recovered very fast and returned to his house. He has been quite active in politics ever since.
In fact, just some days ago, Rao had
flayed state AICC head Manickam Tagore yet again over the delay in the appointment of a new TPCC head.
Bringing up his doubts about the suitability of rumoured front runner for the post, A Revanth Reddy, VHR had told the party's high command that the self-respect of senior leaders and the Congress would be "hurt" if a leader who had only recently joined the party was given the post.
The irate leader had demanded that the high command make a known party loyalist the next TPCC chief instead.
(This was before A Revanth Reddy had been appointed to the post.)
