Dr G V Vennela, daughter of revolutionary balladeer and folk singer the late Gaddar (Gummadi Vittal Rao), today assumed her responsibilities as Chairperson of Telangana Cultural Saradhi.
The ceremony took place at the Cultural Saradhi office in Madhapur.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, MLCs Patnam Mahender Reddy and M Kodandaram, former MP V Hanumantha Rao, actor R Narayana Murthy and Director of the Language and Culture department Dr Mamidi Harikrishna attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Krishna Rao highlighted the pivotal role of Telangana Cultural Saradhi in promoting State-led welfare and development schemes. He expressed hope that under Vennela's leadership the organization would initiate programs to preserve and enhance the State's rich cultural heritage while also fostering societal awareness.
Goud praised Gaddar's crucial role in the Telangana statehood movement, and added that the current government aimed to uphold Gaddar's vision. He criticised the previous BRS government saying it neglected art and artists, and failed to provide adequate recognition or support.
Commending the appointment of Vennela as a rightful recognition of her father's legacy, Goud expressed confidence that her leadership would further strengthen the Cultural Saradhi.
