Stating that the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy was the clear Chief Ministerial candidate of the Congress, TPCC vice-president and former MP Mallu Ravi said the Congress would contest the 2019 elections under the former's leadership.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, Ravi also said that neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was implementing the assurances given during the 2014 election campaigning. The Chief Minister, who had failed to respond on the issue of the Asha workers and contract employees when the they had staged dharnas, was only now speaking in their favour keeping the nearing elections in view, he alleged.
He demanded that the state government give Rs. 9,000 to the Asha workers instead of Rs. 6,000 as announced by the Chief Minister.
