The WEEK-HANSA research survey for the year 2023 has ranked the University of Hyderabad fourth in the country among the top 85 multi-disciplinary universities.
The University of Hyderabad (UoH), a Central University, has been ranked among the best universities in the country.
The WEEK-HANSA research survey for the year 2023 has ranked UoH fourth in the country among the top 85 multi-disciplinary universities that include State, Central, private and deemed universities.
In the 2022 rankings, the UoH was ranked fifth.
UoH was also ranked first among the multi-disciplinary universities in the South.
"We are happy to be ranked among the best universities in the country and no 1 in South India. Even more gratifying is to see the university moving up in the overall rankings compared to last year. We need to put collective efforts and perform better to be the best in the country and improve our position at the global level," said Prof B J Rao, Vice-Chancellor, UoH.
He said that the university had been making steady progress, and that the improvement was possible only due to the efforts of its faculty, students, alumni and administrative staff.
The primary survey was conducted with 302 academic experts, spread across selected cities. The respondents were asked to nominate and rank the top 20 universities in India. A perceptual score was calculated based on the number of nominations and the actual ranks received, and a factual score was calculated based on information collected from universities and other secondary sources on certain specific parameters including age and accreditation; infrastructure and other facilities; faculty; research and academics; student intake and exposure; and placements (only for technical universities).
The final score was calculated as the sum of the perceptual score (out of 400) and the factual score (out of 600).
The overall results of the survey were published in the WEEK magazine issue dated May 12, 2023.
