Two persons allegedly committed suicide in protest against the Centre's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh to create Telangana.

Srinivasa Rao, a resident of Tatipudi in Vizianagaram district, allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday by consuming pesticides. Srinivas was a home-guard in a police station. In another case, a student from Tenali is said to have committed suicide by jumping from a hotel, in Guntur district.

In separate cases, two more persons reportedly tried to commit suicide in favour of united Andhra Pradesh. Police are also said to have prevented a student from setting himself ablaze in Anantapur on Wednesday. (INN)
