The desertion of MLAs of the main opposition party in Telangana, the Congress, to join the ruling TRS is continuing unabated.
In a fresh development, former minister and Kothagudem MLA Vanama Venkateswara Rao, and L B Nagar MLA D Sudheer Reddy have decided to join the ruling TRS.
The two leaders met TRS Working President K T Rama Rao and expressed their desire to join the TRS.
However, supporters of Vanama Venkateswara Rao refuted the media reports and said that their leader would continue in the Congress.
L B Nagar MLA Sudheer Reddy however went official, with the clich?d reasons that he had decided to join the TRS for the development of his constituency, and that the developmental works initiated by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had attracted him a lot and prompted him to join the ruling party.
He also said that he would resign from the Congress and join the TRS very soon.
There are reports that other MLAs of the Congress too are thinking of embracing the TRS in the days to come. Names of Congress MLAs B Harshavardhan Reddy, who won the Kollapur Assembly seat, and Jajala Surender, who won the Yellareddy seat, are doing the rounds of the political corridors in the State prominently in this context. However, the two leaders have denied the reports.
Meanwhile, if Vanama Venkateswara Rao quits the Congress and joins the TRS, the Congress will be left with only one MLA in the undivided Khammam district - CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Other Congress MLAs from the district Rega Kantha Rao (Pinapaka) and Haripriya Naik (Yellandu) have already decided to join the TRS. The MLA of the alliance partner of the Congress, the TDP, Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, who won the Sattupally Assembly seat (Sattupally is also in Khammam), has already announced that he is joining the TRS.
