In the wake of the High Court referring the RTC employees' strike case to the Labour Commissioner, RTC employee unions' JAC Convener Ashwatthama Reddy today said that the JAC would announce its final decision on whether to continue the strike or not on Wednesday after the court delivered its verdict on the privatization of bus routes.
Reddy was speaking after holding talks with the JAC leaders and employees unions on the ongoing strike.
The High Court had
directed the Labour Commissioner yesterday to decide on the legality of the strike in two weeks. Though the JAC had then appeared to be about to call off the strike today, it reportedly decided again to continue the strike for two more weeks. There is no guarantee that the State government will retain the striking employees in service, and this may have forced the JAC to continue the strike for two more weeks, it is said.
However, Reddy said that he would give clarity on the issue on Wednesday.
At this time, it is reported that the RTC JAC and employees have decided not to continue the strike.
