Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday condemned the rumours that appeared in a section of the media that the TRS would be merged with the Congress.
Talking to media persons at the Telangana Bhavan, the TRS chief stated there was no truth in the reports, and alleged that some sections of the media, particularly those from the Seemandhra region, wished to spread rumours against the TRS to get political mileage and to improve TRP ratings.
He requested the media to stop such malicious campaigns and behave in a constructive manner. He said that such false reports would confuse the people and create law and order problems.
He said there was no question of merging TRS with the Congress, and asked the cable operators to condemn such baseless reports and refrain from airing such anti-Telangana reports.
TRS Floor Leader Etela Rajender stated that they had never discussed the merger of TRS with Congress party at any time. He said that the TRS' top priority is the formation of a separate Telangana state, and that it would sacrifice anything to achieve its goal.
He further stated that the TRS would work for the welfare of its people even after the formation of a separate Telangana state.
Medak MP Vijayashanti condemned the Congress party for dillydallying on the Telangana issue. She stated that the TRS is a big party in Telangana region, and that it will not merge with "smaller parties like the Congress."
