Congress leader and former Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy today came down heavily on the ruling party and its head, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, while addressing a gathering of graduate voters in Vikarabad district's Parigi ahead of the upcoming MLC elections in the graduates' constituencies of Hyderabad-Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda.
Speaking on the occasion, he lashed out at the CM for being an "opportunist", and alleged, "KCR is blatantly using the legacy of former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao in a desperate attempt to save his party's face in the MLC elections. Knowing full well that the TRS can never win the MLC seat in the Hyderabad-Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy constituency, he has decided to field the former PM's daughter, Surabhi Vani Devi, on behalf of the party. This shows his proclivity for employing cheap tricks to retain power at any cost."
(The pink party's decision to field Vani Devi had attracted similar rebuke from her nephew, Narasimha Rao's grandson N V Subash, who is affiliated with the BJP, as well. He had accused the TRS of
"appropriating" the former PM's legacy for political gains.)
Reddy then accused the CM of deliberately fielding a large number of independent candidates to split the vote banks in the two poll-bound constituencies.
Urging the graduate voters to support the Congress in the upcoming elections, he asked the voters would they rather vote for a party working towards attaining social justice, or for one that had a "secret alliance" with the MIM.
The TRS regime is in hot water regarding its rumoured alliance with the MIM again after an
incident of communal violence rocked Nirmal district's Bhainsa town yesterday. Condemning the incident, BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind said, "The ruling municipal MIM dispensation in Bhainsa is behind these communal clashes. They want to drive away Hindus from the town. And, the TRS regime is acting like a puppet and a mute spectator to such horrific incidents."
