The Telangana Rashtra Samithi will organise protests across the Telangana region on August 8, against the state government's failure to prescribe the fee structure for admission into engineering colleges.
Talking to reporters at Telangana Bhavan, TRS MLA K T Rama Rao said that lakhs of students were now in a dilemma about their future, because of the government's "attitude".
Alleging that the government was trying to dilute the fee reimbursement scheme, he said that the decision would hit about 17 lakh students in the state. He slammed the government for going ahead with the counseling for admissions into engineering colleges without announcing the fee structure.
Rama Rao alleged that the then Congress government, led by Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, had introduced the fee reimbursement scheme to gain popular votes, and that the present government was trying to dilute the scheme citing financial problems. However, he said that the dilution of scheme would badly affect the students' community.
Besides holding protests on August 8, the TRS will also picket district collectorates on August 10, demanding the announcement of fee structure, he said. (INN)
