Targeting the TDP and the Telangana Congress, Finance Minister Etela Rajender claimed that neither of the Parties had ever done anything good for the State, and accused them of using the flood situation to gain political mileage.
Speaking to the media on Thursday on the Mid-Manair reservoir breach controversy that was raked up by the TDP, Rajender claimed that the State government had spent Rs. 675 crores on the project within two years of coming to power, whereas the previous Congress government spent Rs. 836 crores over a span of eight years.
He slammed the TDP and the Congress for their comments on the breach and said that the reservoir overflowed only due to natural reasons. There was nothing any government could have done against nature's fury other than providing relief and rescue to the affected, which the TRS-led government had done successfully, he said.
He also lashed out at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his "negligence" towards farmers during his regime in united AP. He said that in the process of creating Brand Hyderabad, Naidu had completely ignored the rest of the Telangana region.
Further accusing the Congress of hypocrisy, he pointed out the Rs. 90,000 crores Jalayagnam scam in which the then CM of united Andhra Pradesh Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was allegedly involved.
