Telangana Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today lashed out at Opposition leaders for their "rhetoric" against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and IT Minister K T Rama Rao.
Addressing the media at the Secretariat on Saturday, Yadav made an uproar and reportedly threatened the Opposition leaders with violence by saying that he would would cut their tongues off if they did not stop insulting the Chief Minister and his family.
But quickly softening his tone, he dared the leaders of the Opposition to a debate in the Winter Session of Assembly.
"We are ready to debate the 40 years of Congress rule and also will explain what the TRS has done so far during the first two-and-a-half years of its four-year tenure. We will compare and contrast the progress of the State under the two governments," the Minister said.
Countering the Congress' remarks that KCR did nothing to subside the aftermath of demonetization, the TRS leader said that the State government was aware of the note ban problem, and brought the situation to the notice of the Centre already, he remarked. The CM had personally taken up the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the TRS government was supporting the Centre with regard to any issue for maintaining cordial relations with it. This was a better way to bring succour to the nation, he added.
He went on to list the State government's efforts at developing Telangana. He said that the KCR government spent Rs. 1,900 crores for providing potable water to the L B Nagar, Malkajgiri, Qutbullapur and Serilingampally municipalities and also agreed to Opposition leader K Jana Reddy's appeal to release 100% funds for Assembly constituency development.
The TRS government gave Rs. 3,600 crore arrears of fees reimbursement which were left unpaid by the previous Kiran Kumar Reddy government, and waived off the crop loans as well.
The Minister said that the State government was committed to the welfare of all Telangana people. Yadav also cited that Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha, the pension scheme, fine rice to hostels, Kalyana Lakhsmi, Shaadi Mubarak and others.
The Opposition was resorting to baseless allegations only for their own agendas, he alleged and urged people not to believe in the Opposition's brouhaha.
