Telangana Rashtra Samithi floor leader Etela Rajender, on Tuesday, dismissed reports of a possible merger of the TRS with the Congress.
Addressing a press conference at the TRS Legislature Party office, Etela Rajender described the reports as baseless and mere speculation. He said that the TRS would never merge with the Congress, and claimed that it would continue its struggle till the formation of a Telangana state.
The TRS leader stated that the state government has failed on all fronts with regard to the Telangana region. He said that the farmers in all districts of Telangana have been facing an acute shortage of fertilisers. He added that the government did not respond to the demand despite several representations.
Accusing Kiran Kumar Reddy of ignoring the Telangana region, he asked whether he was the Chief Minister for only Seemandhra or for the entire state.
Etela Rajender said that several hectares of agricultural land in Adilabad district were inundated due to recent heavy rains, and said that the TRS would send a delegation to study the losses and submit a report to the Chief Minister demanding compensation.
He also condemned the police lathicharge on the BJP workers who had staged protest at Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's residence in New Delhi on Tuesday. (INN)
