TRS MLC Farooq Hussain Threatens Landlady With Chappal

TRS MLC Farooq Hussain is in the eye of a storm ever since a video showing him threatening to beat up an NRI, his landlady, today went viral.

The lady, Amtul Wasay, an NRI who recently returned from the USA, went to the flat that the MLC has been residing in for a long while (in Skill Splendor Apartments in Lakdi Ka Pul), early this morning to ask him to vacate. She said that she had been asking the MLC to vacate for almost two years now, but he had been repeatedly seeking extensions and even said that she could never get him to vacate the apartment, and had not even been paying the rent for the past six months.

However, Hussain used vulgar language to abuse her (which can clearly be seen in the video) and threatened to have her thrown in jail, and even lurched at her to hit her with his slipper, at which Wasay retreated from there and went to the Nampally police station to lodge a complaint.

Hussain however claimed that while it was him in the video, he did not harass Wasay, and that he did not know that she was the owner of the apartment since he had taken the apartment on lease from someone else and was paying the rent regularly to someone else. It appeared a brazen attempt to repudiate extremely clear video evidence.

Hussain alleged that the media had made an issue out of nothing, and said that he had already informed the flat owner that he would vacate the house. He said that he would shift to the MLA Quarters which were under construction, within four months.

The police registered a case against Hussain under Section 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC.
