The Bodhan TRS MLA Aamir Shakil on Monday demanded that the State government grant Rs 5 crores to each of the 10 districts of Telangana, for the upcoming Ramzan festival.
Speaking to media persons after participating in the review meeting held by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at the State Secretariat in Hyderabad, Shakil said that he had requested KCR to ensure that elaborate arrangements were made for the holy month of Ramzan that will begin on June 29, in all the districts of the State.
He said that permission should be granted to keep shops open round the clock during Ramzan, and that the district authorities should be directed to provide drinking water, uninterrupted power and other basic amenities without any glitches.
He said that he had also requested the Chief Minister to pay salary for an additional one month to the Imams and Muazzins of all the mosques in Telangana.
Shakil said that the police authorities should be directed not to harass shopkeepers and small traders, especially during the month of Ramzan.
He also suggested that Muslim RTC drivers and conductors be exempted from evening duty hours, and that they be deployed for morning duties.
He claimed that the Chief Minister had agreed to consider the demands. (INN)
