TRS leaders, including ministers, MLAs and local party leaders, took out bike rallies and staged dharnas against the remarks of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh, and turned the entire state into something of a war zone over the issue.
As soon as TRS working president K T Rama Rao gave a call for state-wide protests, the TRS leaders took out bike rallies in all the districts, mandals and towns of the state.
Ministers too took part in the bike rallies in their respective districts, and shouted slogans against the Prime Minister.
Sporting black badges, the TRS leaders burnt effigies of Modi for "hurting the sentiments of the people of the state".
They slammed the Modi government for "insulting the Telangana people and democracy", and demanded that the Prime Minister tender apologies for his remarks.
The TRS leaders also said that the BJP government was "provoking communal strife and trying to benefit from the conflicts among the people".
The TRS would continue to mount pressure on the Centre until the PM withdrew his remarks against the state, they said.
They also accused Modi of failing to address the issues of the bifurcation or the state for seven years now.
