TRS MP B Suman today turned the tables on the leaders of the Telangana Congress for their allegations of corruption against the State government, claiming the Congress was itself noted for rampant corruption across the country.
Talking to the media on Friday, Suman accused the Congress deliberately maligning the State government for political mileage.
"Congress governments in all States and at the Centre were notorious for looting the public in the name of welfare schemes. They have eaten up crores in international scandals worth lakhs of crores like the Bofors," he alleged.
The Congress leaders were caught in the web of corruption cases, and even IAS and IPS officials were sent to jail for their involvement, he recalled. They also swindled funds meant for the welfare of poor Dalits, STs and other minorities, he alleged.
Unlike the previous governments, the TRS government in the State was making herculean efforts to implement several schemes for the welfare of the SC, ST, BC and minorities, he said. The young State was ushering in a new era of rapid growth with neatly laid out plans by CM KCR, Suman said.
"We are striving to offer corruption-free governance, and hassle-free permissions for industries and businesses across the State. Free double bedroom houses, pensions, ration cards and land to the landless are some of the schemes that were undertaken by the TRS and are now benefiting the destitute. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is determined at keeping his manifesto promises," he said.
Condemning Congress leader Madhu Yashki Goud's remarks on the alleged corruption in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Suman asserted that the works of the civic body were transparent and well-documented. He also said that any corruption within the municipal body will be dealt with effectively by the State government.
