Stating that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was a humane leader aware of the problems of the poor, commercial taxes minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said that the State government was giving top priority to welfare and strengthening the health sector to rival the corporate hospitals in health services.
Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan, Talasani said that the TRS government was focused on pushing the power, health and education sectors. He also said that despite persistent obstacles, the government was bringing waters to Hyderabad from the Godavari river.
Had the government not made it a special focus, the State would have faced a power crisis next summer, he said. He also criticized the previous governments for neglecting the welfare of the poor. As soon as it came to power, the TRS leadership addressed all these issues on a war-footing - it ensured 24-hour power supply, increased pensions, gave free double-bedroom houses for the poor and did much more.
Also, while the previous governments confined themselves to laying foundation stones, the TRS government was completing all the pending projects with proper funding, and executing new ones in a timely manner, the minister said.
The TRS government also accorded equal priority to all religions and sections, celebrating their festivals as those of the State, he added. Stating that KCR and his AP counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu were vying for the development of their respective States, Talasanui said that he would be celebrating Sankranthi in the Godavari districts, perhaps to witness the traditional cockfights.
He was also critical of the Opposition parties for their tirade against the government despite a humiliating debacle in the Warangal Lok Sabha election. Its work ensured that the people were fully with the TRS despite the Opposition's continuous vilification, and the Party would win 100 seats in the GHMC polls, Talasani claimed.
