The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Sunday demanded that the state government provide immediate assistance to the rain-hit farmers in the Telangana region.
Talking to reporters here, TRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao said that several districts of the Telangana region have been badly affected by the heavy rains that have been lashing th state since the last 6 days.
Crops spread across thousands of acres have been damaged in Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Adilabad, Warangal and other districts of Telangana.
He demanded that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy should extend immediate assistance to the affected farmers, without showing any regional discrimination against them.
Meanwhile, TRS MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy who visited the affected areas in Adilabad, slammed the CM for not visiting the rain and flood affected areas of the Telangana region.
He accused him of "regional discrimination" even at a time when the farmers were hit due to the fury of nature.
He said that the TRS would not tolerate any discrimination against Telangana farmers, in terms of distribution of flood relief.
Earlier, Harish Rao accused the CM of wasting crores of rupees on publicity on the occasion of Andhra Pradesh Formation Day celebrations, held on November 1.
Stating that nearly Rs. 45 crore were spent for the event, he asked whether such an expenditure could be justified especially at time when the state is hit by natural calamities. (INN)
