Telangana Irrigation Minister and senior TRS leader T Harish Rao today blasted the Opposition for its threat to move court against the delimitation of the districts, and challenged them to an open debate on the issue.
He added that he would listen to them only if they could substantiate their claims during the debate.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Rao took serious exception to the Congress' threat to approach the courts against the creation of the new districts in the State. The Congress and the TDP were crying foul only to gain political mileage, he alleged. They would lose ground if the districts were delimited and hence were trying their best to hamper the process by creating hysteria among the public, he claimed.
Slamming the "naysayers" for "hindering" the State's growth, the irrigation minister said that despite the Opposition's mud-slinging campaigns and its attempts at spreading misinformation, the government would go ahead with its plan of carving out new districts.
"I request the people to take up responsibility and chase the Opposition leaders away if they ever spot them protesting against the new districts," he thundered.
Rao claimed that the reorganization process was completely scientific and reasonable, and was being done purely on the basis of demography, geography, resource availability and other technical aspects.
He said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was actively coordinating with the sub-committee and concerned officials to expedite the process, and clarified that the CM would not move ahead without considering the opinions of the general public.
"KCR will hold a Collectors' conference on the delimitation process today. A final call will be taken after illiciting public opinion," Rao said.
