The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Thursday accused a section of media of trying to sabotage the Telangana agitation by distorting the statements of TRS leaders.
Talking to reporters at Telangana Bhavan, TRS former MP and politbureau member B Vinod Kumar cited instances in which the media had misquoted TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao.
He said that KCR had never stated that he had discussed the Telangana issue with Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde during his month-long stay in New Delhi. He said that when Shinde was asked about the issue, he had clarified that he did not discuss the issue with KCR.
"However, a section of media has used Shinde's statement to target KCR," he complained.
Asking people not to fall prey to the "false propaganda being carried out by the media", Vinod Kumar advised the media to be fair in reporting statements of TRS leaders.
The TRS leader also demanded that all political parties spell out their respective stands on the Telangana issue clearly. He said that the Centre would be able to take an immediate decision on Telangana only if they do so. (INN)
