The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust members had convened a meeting on Sunday to address 2 major issues: the appointment of a Chairman for the Trust, and the installation of a statue of Baba over his shrine.
The meeting concluded before a concrete decision could be taken on either matter, and it was announced that another meeting would be convened by the members of the Trust on the 8th or the 9th of May.
The top favourites for the post of the Chairman seem to be senior trustee Venu Srinivasan, Trust Secretary K Chakravarthi and Baba's nephew J Ratnakar. Venu Srinivasan seems to have an edge over the other 2 contenders for the post, as Chakravarthi is not a trustee (a pre-requisite to be the Chairman of the Trust) and Ratnakar is considered to be too inexperienced to handle the responsibilities that come with the post.
Analysts reasoned that Srinivasan's innate ability to handle crisis situations makes him the more logical choice, as only an experienced individual would be capable of managing the Trust at this point of time.
Reports that Satyajit is also a strong candidate for the role of the Chairman were laid to rest with the Central Trust authorities transferring to him the responsibilities of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini, a pet project of Baba that was launched last year.
This is the first major meeting convened by the Trust members after their
press conference on 28th April, wherein they spoke at length about various aspects of the Trust.
