Yet another incident of a daring train robbery was reported on from Prakasam district on Sunday, in which passengers on the Circar Express were deprived of around 8 tolas of gold ornaments.
Another gang of robbers which targeted the Ahilyanagari Express was forced to run away after passengers on the Indore-Trivandrum train raised an alarm late on Saturday night.
These incidents come close on the heels of a train robbery on the
Padmavati Express near Bapatla early on Saturday morning.
In the latest incident, the robbers targeted the Chennai-Kakinada train late on Saturday night and made off after snatching the gold ornaments from the passengers near Ulavapadu in Prakasam district.
The passengers, travelling in the S4, S5 and S6 coaches, filed a complaint with the railway police in Nellore that the robbers made off under the cover of darkness by pulling the chain.
The passengers further said that the security personnel on board the train were not visible when they raised an alarm of the presences of the armed robbers, and that they came much after the miscreants left the scene.
The increasing numbers of such incidents on the Guntur-Gudur-Nadikudi section have forced the Railway Protection Force to step up their vigil, but this has had seemingly no effect so far.
Apart from Sunday's Circar Express and Saturday's robbery on the Padmavati Express, passengers of the Narayanadri Express had been looted twice, while the Chennai Express and the Simhapuri Express were targeted once each.
