Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) chief M Kodandaram today helmed a satyagraha program, protesting against the steep increase in the prices of petrol and diesel prices in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, the leader claimed that the prices of fuel would come down only if the governments decided to lower them.
He alleged that the both the Centre and the Telangana government were trying to "fool" the people of the country and the state on the issue, and said that as a consequence of this, the public was facing increased pecuniary problems.
Further, Kodandaram lambasted both the Modi and the KCR regimes for "misleading" the people by claiming that the prices of crude oil had gone up, resulting in the increasing in domestic fuel costs.
He then demanded the state Cabinet and the Union ministers either take steps to lower the fuel prices or resign from their posts if they failed to ensure this.
Earlier this month, the Congress too had
organised cycle and bullock cart rallies across Telangana to protest against the soaring prices of petrol, diesel, and LPG in the state.
Many eminent leaders of the Congress had taken part in the rallies - TPCC head A Revanth Reddy, TPCC working president M Anjan Kumar Yadav, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, former PCC head Ponnala Laxmaiah, former minister Dr J Geeta Reddy, former Andhra Pradesh deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha, and former MLCs Ramulu Naik and Feroz Khan were among those seen at the demonstrations.
